Macquarie mega-lot may make more millionaires

A “mega-lot” has been offered at Macquarie Park in Sydney’s north, following the lead of an adjoining block that generated close to $80 million last month and made owners instant millionaires.

The SMH reports that neighbours at 12-14 Lachlan Avenue and 13 Cottonwood Crescent are set to try their luck on the property market, with 33 out of 36 units on the 3,172.20 square metre site for sale as a collective.

A lucrative change in the strata law has been a cause for home owners to join in shared sale offerings when they get more than 75 per cent of residents to agree.

With a “mixed-use core”, Macquarie Park has plans to grow into the fourth-largest Australian CBD by 2030, doubling its working population of 40,000 employees and potentially expanding from 850,000 square metres of commercial space to more than 2 million square metres.
